Rapid intervention teams are there to rescue the rescuers. All too often members assigned to RIT view their role as “punishment” and often withdraw from the incident merely standing on the sidelines. In reality, this assignment is critical to the safety and welfare of our brothers and sisters. The RIT assignment is proactive and not reactive!
This program revolves around the NFPA 1407 standard. There are many skills that a rapid intervention team must be able to perform. Our veteran instructors will share their experiences in the classroom, then will take you out in the field to demonstrate various life-saving techniques. Students are then challenged by several demanding drills and scenarios based exercises. SCBA and full PPE required for all students.
